No treasury report
Dr Joan Brehm and Timothy Ervin presented the Green Initiative planned for the space at 506 South Gridley Street. The lot was purchased to build a small garden to help reduce flooding like we have had in the past, while also helping pollinators and wildlife. The rain garden will be better for the environment and hopefully have a bigger impact than those methods used before. There are two meetings planned for September 29th and October 8th (6-7pm) at the Bloomington Public Library Community Room to hear any concerns from those neighbors living near this site. There are 77 households within a mile radius of the Gridley site. Their plan is to buy more properties in flood plains or wetlands but Dimmitt’s Grove is part of the pilot program with this green alley.
Old Business/Updates:
The welcome sign area is ready at CJ and Susan’s place. They added a wonderful wall, bench, and garbage can at the bus stop along their property. No other updates on the sign project installations as we enter the cooler months.
Sarah Hanzel is working on the next neighborhood newsletter. 520 copies are needed.
New Business:
Theresa Necessary reported that the DGNA Bake Sale will be on Saturday, September 27th at the Downtown Bloomington Farmer’s Market. A sign-up sheet was available for those wanting to bake or help volunteer. All neighbors are invited to come hang out and visit with each other.
The DGNA Chili Cook-Off will be in the backyard at Sarah and Gregg Hanzels’ house (601 East Jackson Street) November 1st.
Safety Concerns:
No major safety concerns to report.
Pam Eaton was voted in as Vice President and Jerica Etheridge was elected member at large.
Our next DGNA meeting will be November 6, 2025 @6pm @TBD
Meeting was adjourned at 6:44pm by Brad Williams.
