Old Business/Updates:
The Day in Dimmitt’s Grove was held on September 8th. A big THANK YOU goes to all neighbors who helped to make it a great success! There were 80 tickets sold. We hope to have another one in 2026, continuing to host either a garden or house event every other year. Neighbors brainstormed about possible tie-ins to the Route 66 celebration (in 2026), Lincoln Day, inviting Schooners, AB Hatchery, and GreenTop, or having singers or actors from ISU or Nomad theaters participate in the future.
The DGNA Chili Cookoff was held on October 26th. A huge “thank you” goes to Gregg and Sarah Hanzel for hosting. There was a great turnout of neighbors, food, and drinks. Jeff Stewart won “Best Overall Chili”. Brandon Gray won “Most Unusual Chili”. Noah Tang won “Spiciest Chili”. Jerica Etheridge won “Best Appetizer”. Sarah Gray won “Best Dessert”. Our past and present winners may have some great recipes to include in our DGNA cookbook in addition to history facts and tidbits. Ideas about creating a cookbook that could be sold at the museum or bake sale were discussed. A new round of prize aprons will be needed after next year. We need to have another logo printing party at Meltdown or we are open to other screen-printing options.
New Business:
The sign project committee reported that 43 signs have been completed at this time. It has been very successful and they are working on some write-ups for the spring installs.
Sarah and Gregg Hanzel plan to host a soup social sometime in February. More details to come soon.
Safety Concerns:
There has been a lot of police presence at 612 East Taylor lately.
Our next DGNA meeting will be January 2, 2025 @6pm @Green Top Grocery (921 East Washington Street).
Meeting was adjourned at 7:19pm by President Brad Williams.
