Old Business/Updates:
The DGNA Bake Sale was held on Saturday, August 3rd. There was a great turnout of neighbors (old and new) gathering to visit at the tent downtown this year. A big THANK YOU goes to all neighbors who baked, set-up, worked, and helped raise $818.00!
New Business:
The sign project committee reported that the pages and codes have been set-up for each sign. If you have history write-ups ready for the website, please send them to Hollis or Noah. Noah is going to write-up instructions on how to do research. Six of sixteen signs have been completed. There are ten more posts ready to be installed before the winter months approach.
Historic Day in Dimmitt’s Grove is planned for September 8th from 12-4pm. THANK YOU to the Vrooman Mansion for hosting our homebase for handing out booklets for the garden walk. Balloons to attach to each historic sign will be distributed starting at 11:00am that morning.
Sarah and Gregg Hanzel plan to host the DGNA Chili Cookoff this October. The invitation will be extended to Founders Grove neighborhood for a little friendly competition. More details to come soon.
Safety Concerns:
There was a young woman trying to hide in the backyard of a neighbor’s house after she was being approached and followed while walking on the sidewalk near Evans and Grove streets. The white male with brown hair was in a 2018 Chevy Malibu.
There was a car broken into on Grove Street. They attempted to steal the car, unsuccessfully, but managed to steal items from it.
Stay vigilant and call the non-emergency police number.
Next meeting will be November 7, 2024 @6pm @the Vrooman Mansion (701 East Taylor Street). Congratulations to the Vrooman Mansion for recently being named #5 on the Top 10 Best Bed-and-Breakfasts in the United States!
