DGNA Meeting Minutes-January 2024
Minutes for January 4, 2024 Dimmitt’s Grove Neighborhood Association Meeting President Brad Williams called the meeting to order at 6:09 pm at Green Top Grocery.Attendance: 11 DGNA members were present for the meeting; Brad Williams, Sarah Hanzel, Hollis Black, Pam Eaton, Herb Eaton, Maurice and Heather Betts, Noah Tang, Jonathan Stein, Cody Hendricks, and Eric Hansen.
Approval of Minutes from previous meeting 11/2023 was given. And congratulations to our neighbor Noah Tang for graduating with his recent Master Degree.
Hollis Black gave the treasury update with our total of $2,315.86.
Sarah Hanzel and Hollis Black are still working on the current sign project and still have not reached the quota for applicants needed to proceed.
Pam Eaton and Sarah Hanzel did not have any current Block Captain issues to discuss at this time.
Cody Hendricks discussed his work in meeting with the city regarding zoning issues. He and the group also discussed the current homeless situation going on at the Home Sweet Home Ministry property. The city has given $750,000 to non profit organizations for this issue. Recipients including PATH, HSH Ministry, Eastview, and Salvation Army. The City of Bloomington has requested that a Housing Coordinator be assigned and provide a detailed list of how these funds are being utilized. To date PATH has not been to any meetings with the city involving this situation.
The neighbors also discussed the possibility of doing another Day In Dimmitt's Grove in 2025. There is currently a committee starting that includes Karen, Pam, Sarah H., Susan, CJ, Noah, and Hollis. Further information to come on this as work begins.
Noah discussed doing a Spring Fling Clean Up day this Spring. As the time approaches more details will be sent out to the neighborhood.
The discussion of a Block Party/Summer Social was discussed and Sarah Hanzel has discussed the use of her back property to hold such an event.
The next meeting will be March 7th at 6pm and will be held at Green Top Grocery.
