Sarah Boyce House

The house was the home of Sarah R. Boyce, one of the oldest residents of McLean county. She was born in 1808 in Ohio and lived in Bloomington from 1851 until her death in 1904 at the age of 96. She shared this house with her daughter, Sarah and her husband John J Penn.

In the 1910s, Frenchman Emile Gros, a tin shop owner on Washington Street, taught French in his home at night. He even translated letters from France during World War I.
