Rabbi A. J. Messing House

This residence was built by Rabbi Abraham Joseph Messing and his wife Florence. Messing served at the Moses Montefiore Jewish Synagogue on Prairie Street, and also taught at Illinois Wesleyan University. He was born in Chicago in 1873, lived in San Francisco in 1880 according to the census, and Bloomington in 1910. Messing died in Albuquerque New Mexico in 1922.
