Old Business/Updates:
Three new big signs that say “Welcome to Dimmitt’s Grove” are done. One was on display in the Garden of Eaton. The placement of the signs was discussed. Possible corners are Clayton and Oakland, Oakland and Gridley, Gridley and Grove, Grove and Clinton, and Washington and Evans. The sign committee also reported that a new historic sign was placed on South Clayton Street. There was a unique doctor who lived there who administered spankings.
The date for our DGNA Bake Sale downtown at the Farmer’s Market has been set for Saturday, October 24th from 7:30am to 12:00pm. Contact Theresa Necessary if you want to bake or volunteer.
New Business:
Some realtors were invited to attend the social and meeting, but nobody was present.
The Old House Society has some new board members. Julia Sutherland highlighted some changes that they have made to make it more customer friendly, had their 501C reinstated, and added that the hours are Wed-Sat 10am-5pm.
The neighborhood between us and Founder’s Grove is organizing a new Graves Grove Neighborhood Association. Their boundaries are from Clinton to State to Washington to Oakland. This will add another voice and strengthen our community.
Founder’s Grove is having a chili cook-off on October 10th at 2pm at A.B. Hatchery. Ours should be in October, at Hanzel Farms. More screen-printed aprons are ready for the winners. Discussion was had about having another screen-printing party soon, allowing neighbors to make more DGNA swag.
Safety Concerns:
There are no reports of threats to our safety within our boundaries currently.
Our next DGNA meeting will be November 5, 2026 @6pm at Jerica Etheridge’s house at 407 South Evans Street.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:49pm by Brad Williams.
