September 2022 – Meeting Minutes

Minutes for September 1, 2022 Dimmitt’s Grove Neighborhood Association Meeting 

President Brad Williams called the meeting to order at 6:05pm at Brandon and Sarah Gray’s residence.  Thank you to Brandon and Sarah for hosting.  

Attendance:  9 DGNA members were present for the meeting; Brad Williams, Jerica Etheridge, Karen Schmidt, Sarah Hanzel, Pam Eaton, Sarah and Brandon Gray, Theresa Necessary, and Diana Krieg.  Introductions were made. 

Guest Jordan Baker was present to talk about why he is running for Ward 6.   He attended to hear about current issues the DGNA is facing and told us about similar issues in surrounding neighborhoods.   

The meeting minutes from July were approved.

Treasurer report = $1,872.86

Old Business:

There was more discussion about vacant properties.  Karen Schmidt read existing ordinance in regards to houses being left empty for “five days with no repair schedule” and how the rules are already in place, but not being enforced.  New issues with rats may be resolved with frequent complaints to city like 503 East Taylor situation.  The house on this lot was demolished on July 27th.      

New Business:

The DGNA Chili Cook-off is planned for October 29th at 2:00pm and will be hosted by Gregg and Sarah Hanzel.  Founders Grove is having their Chili Cook-off on October 16th at 4:30pm at AB Hatchery.    

The additional “DGNA Bake Sale 2.0” will be October 1st.  Please contact Theresa Necessary if you would like to bake or work a shift.   

The Social Committee reported that the next DGNA social will be October 6th at 6:00pm at Meltdown Creative Works.  We will be making new swag.  Sarah Hanzel presented prices for the cost of new aprons for the chili cook-offs in the future.  It was approved to print new ones for three categories.    

No major causes for concern on the monthly crime reports.  

No new reports from block captains.   

Next meeting will be November 3, 2022 @6pm @Diana Krieg’s residence
