The September 2018 meeting of Dimmitt’s Grove Neighborhood Association was held at Green Top Grocery on September 6. The meeting was called to order by President Brad Williams. Nineneighbors were present. The meeting minutes from the previous meeting was approved. The Treasurer’s report was not available at the time of meeting.
The DGNA Bake Sale raised $459.15. The few items that were leftover were donated to The West Side Revitalization Project. Thank you to all the bakers and the workers that donated their time and talents.
The DGNA Neighborhood Plan was presented to the Planning Commission by Vasu and Carlo presented the accomplishments from the plan. The Planning Commission will review and vote to accept in the October meeting.
The Transportation Commission met and heard concerns on the wrong way traffic on Evans Street, bike routes and traffic calming areas.
The Old House Society is doing a walking tour of the DGNA signs. The tours will be lead by DGNA’s own Terrie Clemmons.
More volunteers are needed for the sign committee. The address to submit sign applications will also need to be updated. There is no requirement to apply for signs. Committee will meet after September.
There will be a meeting with Matt from Mid Central Community Action. There will be a discussion about possible grant money for neighborhood projects.
The Chili Cook-Off will be held at the home of Sarah and Gregg Hanzel. It will take place on October 14th at 4:00 PM. The address is 601 E Jackson Street. Please bring something to share and your favorite beverage. Children are welcome and of course DGNA alums!
Progress has been made on 511 E Jackson. The front door was left open for three days after a tenant was evicted. The issue remains that the landlord does not care.
A motion was made to block Lacey and Paul’s move to Carlock. The motion passed. Thank you to Paul and Lacey for all of their work with DGNA and best wished at your new home. Lacey promises to visit often.
The new DGNA Secretary will be Brandon and Sarah Gray.
There was an attempted break in on the 400 block of Olive while tenants were home. Parked cars on the same block were also burglarized. Police were notified on both accounts.
The next DGNA meeting will be held on November 1, 2018 at Green Top Grocery.
